AWS Storage Gateway vs Amazon FSx for Windows File Server

Which will be a better solution for a company running business applications on premises to copy generated files to AWS storage on a daily basis? existing resources include SMB file share (on premise) and VPN connection to AWS.

If budget is an issue you could consider nfs4.x client and aws efs. That is much cheaper and faster.

Just be warned about a SMB File Gateway – we found the throughput very poor when compared to a NFS File Gateway. NFS got between 80-90 Mbit/sec, when as a SMB File Gateway only got 30 Mbit/sec. This was acknowledged by AWS themselves and their only solution was to use multiple parallel file writes to the SMB File Gateway.
