I recommend a security plugin [iThemes Security] and this plugin has an interesting feature which is the [away mode].
Basically, you can set a period of time that suspends the wordpress login panel. So the risks of accounts being hacked are reduced. For example, you can enable the [away mode] from midnight to morning, or if you know you are travelling, you can enable this completely.
The question comes, if it is at [away mode], and you really want to login, what to do? The solution is quick and dirty. Just login to SSH (or FTP) and navigate to the your wordpress directory: /wp-content/uploads/ithemes-security (this folder is set to be [deny from all]) and delete the file itsec_away.confg (it has a word [ture] in it).
