Trends of the Internet Websites

Internet has been evolved greatly since the last 2 decades. For example, the HTML5 replaces the Flash. In my opinion, there are three trends of the internet in the future that are almost certain and will not change, which are:

Go HTTPS

HTTPS (SSL certificates) allow the secure connections between you and the server so no one else can monitor and alter the content sent between.

In China, some ISP may alter/inject the HTML content with some un-wanted advs, which can be easily done on unsecure HTTP pages. Using HTTPS is the way to avoid your web contents being compromised with other unwanted contents, as the content remains intact during the transmission.

Go Mobile

Mobile users (including smart phones, tablets, iPad etc) are increasing exponentially in recent years. Google search engines treat the mobile user friendly as a ranking signal. Go mobile makes a website easy for users to read on mobile devices without pinch and zoom.

And, the Google’s AMP project has made the website loading on the mobile devices lightening fast.

Go CDN

CDN (Content Delivery Network) such as CloudFlare allows to hide the real IP/Server from the visitors so the risks of Distribute-DoS are minimized. Also CDN accelerates the website loading speed because the static contents are served distributed across the server nodes all over the world (the nearest server will be serving the content).

Some CDN (e.g. CloudFlare) also provides some DDOS protection, so it is a bonus to use CDN.
